He asked me questions about my orchestra and what pieces I liked to play as well. At the end of the tour, seeing my envious look at the instruments, the owner picked up a lower-end, but still worth at least a million dollars' violin and asked me to have a try while he held it. I very carefully played it. Having enjoyed my performance, he proudly said, "Wonderful! You have such a great gift for it. I hope you can stick to your dream and become a famous violinist in the future." I listened to his words with a smile, moving tears rolled down my cheeks. Moments later, I left the shop without even remembering his name, my passion for the instrument kindled.

I don't remember his name at this point, but I am very grateful to him. I'm so glad that he ignored my dad's bad manners and lack of social awareness and decided to take the time out of his occupied day to show a non-customer without appointment around. His warm behavior inspired me to continue loving and pursuing my instrument after high school! I still play the violin to this day, and I've picked up some other instruments along the way, too. I will never forget the violin shop's owner.

In the photo, the students saw a young woman with two little children standing before an oak tree. “What a lovely woman and cute kids.” “Yeah, she is a smart woman who can always make our small house warm and comfortable.” Vingo murmured. With Brunswick approaching, Vingo stopped staring at the photo, tightening his face, as if protecting himself against another disappointment. The students took over window seats, waiting for the coming of the oak tree. Then Brunswick was ten miles, and then five. All the people opened their eyes wide, waiting for a miracle.

With the oak tree in sight, the students were up out of their seats, wild with joy. But Vingo sat there, amazed. The oak tree was covered with yellow handkerchiefs, twenty or thirty of them, maybe hundreds, flying in the wind. The oak tree stood like a banner of welcome, blowing in the wind. All the students couldn’t hold back their excitement, shouting, crying, doing small dances or shaking fists in triumph. As the students remained thrilled, Vingo slowly rose from his seat, holding himself tightly, and made his way to the front door of the bus.

With the sound of the bell again, the boys came back. But this time there was a crowd of kids with them. A line was forming out of the door! The silence was replaced with excited chatter. The kids were laughing, pointing at the new candy flavors, and pulling handful of coins from their pockets. “I’ll have a pickle juice lemonade, please!’’ “Give me two pieces of Brussels spouts candies, please!’’ “The hot sauce ice cream, please!’’… Carly and her aunt were occupied serving all the customers, and more lined up at the door every minute.

Carly had never seen the shop so busy! It seemed that the customers could not get enough of Maggie’s crazy candy combinations. Incredibly! When they finally sent the last customer out of the door and turned on the “Closed” sign that flashed in the window, they were exhausted but in extraordinarily high spirits. That might have been the craziest day, ever. Giving her aunt a thumbs up, Carly said smilingly, “Aunt Maggie, you’re a genius.” “I know,’’ grinned her aunt, winking at Carly with the usual childish smile on her face.

I jumped off the chair and started chasing crickets with my boys. They were everywhere. Every time we tried to put a cricket into the container, another one would jump out. We yelled with excitement, laughing uncontrollably. The clock was still ticking, but we didn’t care. Fifteen minutes later, we got all of the little guys into their box. Once we were done, my boys enthusiastically helped me get ready for the dinner. It became a game to see if we could make it in time. We were all in such a fabulous mood.

Paragraph2:

Our guests arrived and we had a wonderful dinner party. The boys helped me tell them all about our “strange insects problem”. All of us broke into laughter again. For weeks after, looking back on that day always made me crack a smile. That moment is a constant reminder to me that I should never let frustration keep me from enjoying life. Things would go wrong. Keep cool, and take a few deep breaths. Don’t let anger dominate you. Try to think of something that brings you joy. You’ll find something if you try.

My turn finally came. As I urged Cowboy forward, he stumbled, and almost fell, much to the delight of the other riders. I jammed my hat down on my head, stroked Cowboy's big red neck and entered the arena. At the signal, we dashed toward the first barrel, quickly whipped around it and with perfect precision rounded the second and thundered on to the third. We tore around the final curve and shot for the finish line.

No cheers filled the air when I finished my show. The end of our run was met with surprised silence. With the sound of my heart pounding in my ears, I heard the announcer call our time. Cowboy and I had beaten Becky and her proud fancy horse! I gained much more than a blue ribbon that day. At thirteen, I realized that I'd always come out a winner if I wanted something badly enough to work for it. I can be the master of my own destiny.
